Starship Engineering Packages: Imperial standardized engineering specifications for starships and subsystems.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Also called Standardized Engineering Packages or SEPs. These are collections of Universal Manufacturing Templates that have been deemed as essential for interstellar commerce and are thus widely distributed.

Imperial standardized engineering specifications for starships and subsystems created as a joint effort of Imperial Ship Builders Association, Travellers' Naval Architecture Society, and the Ministry of Science. The Ministry of Science and the Starport Authority deliver these packages to shipyards throughout the Imperium without charge, based on technical and capacity capabilities. Having standardized ships and components eases logistics, maintenance, and costs. These designs are hundreds and in a few cases even thousands of years old, so no architect fees apply. SEPs are the reason you can find Beowulf class Free Traders in the Solomani Rim, Ley, and Spinward Marches, both new and hundreds of years old.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Standardized engineering packages date back to the Vilani Empire, which was very organized. Solamani historians believe that the over standardization and backward compatibility slowed technological development and aided the downfall of the 1st Imperium. Vilani historians believe that the lack of standardization contributed to the downfall of the Rule of Man due to maintenance issues.

Game Mechanics[edit]

Standardized Engineering Packages are represented in game mechanics by CT Starships design, T4 Quick Ship Design System (QSDS), and T4 Standard Ship Design System (SSDS)
