Plia' is an icy, nonindustrial world, whose surface is ice-capped and with nearly all of its water frozen.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is a member of the Meichntid Ibl in the Meichntid Ibl Subsector of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- It is a member of the Yiklerzdanzh Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stellar Data
Plia' has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been partially surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- An unknown number of secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)
Plia' is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Plia' has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences very low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Plia' has 25-35% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only around 30% of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.
Satellites
Plia' retains a single large arid moon.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, trace atmosphere world.)
Native Lifeforms
Primitive sub-ice native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
Plia' lies on the Yiklerzdanzh Main, the major trade route within the sector.
- An eclectic mix of high cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along the Main, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between its member worlds.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
- Worlds on the Main are marked in green.
World Starport (St)
Plia' has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)
Plia' has a population of 80,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography
The most widely spoken language is Zdetl.
Urbanization
People visiting Meichntid Ibl settlements can be overwhelmed by the level of advertising. Advertisements of all types will be seen, as there are no restrictions -- with the exception that subliminal or mind-altering advertising is illegal as it conflicts with the Anidrep philosophy.
World Technology Level (T)
Plia' possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)
Plia' is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
- Politicians are elected to the world legislature, which is responsible for appointing a set number of representatives to the Meichntid Ibl Federal legislature. These federal representatives are responsible to the world legislature which appointed them.
World Military
- Individual worlds in Meichntid Ibl are not permitted to have independent military forces. However, police and law enforcement activities are not military and are therefore under world government control.
World Law (L)
Plia' has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
- As a member of the Meichntid Ibl, this world sees activity from the independent judiciary known as The Questioning Eye, the role of which is primarily to monitor government activities. The Questioning Eye has a wide range of powers in order to make sure that official affairs are conducted in an efficient and proper manner.
World Culture
The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
