Foralin Subsector is Subsector N of Far Home Sector.

Description / Specifications[edit]

Foralin Subsector lies within Far Home Sector and is named for the Foralin system and its red giant primary star. It is a relatively undeveloped backwater with few advanced worlds. The Spinward Drift Star Lane crosses through its the coreward half, while its rimward regions are considered to lie within the Great Void. The Ha'shaka system, lying on the Subsector's rimward-trailing border, marks the spinward limit of Sath exploration.

Physical Astrography[edit]

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this area:

World Listing:[edit]

The following systems and worlds can be found within Foralin Subsector:

Unexplored System[edit]

One system within Foralin Subsector remains officially unexplored as of 5600AD. It lies four parsecs from the Distant Fringe proper, within the Great Void, placing it beyond the range of conventional vessels. It is likely that governments and organisations know significantly more about it than is made available to the general public.

Subsector Summary:[edit]

Foralin, subsector N of Far Home has 12 worlds, of which 9 have native gas giants. The estimated population for the subsector is 178 million sophonts (not necessarily humans). There are no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. There are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds versus no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, and one Non-Agricultural (Na) world. There are two Rich (Ri) worlds versus no Industrial (In) worlds. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, two Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world. There are no Naval bases in the subsector, no Scout bases, and no Way stations. The highest population world is Saldazar (Far Home 1633). The highest tech level is B at Incal (Far Home 0931) and Saldazar (Far Home 1633). The average technology level is 6 (with most between 2 and 9).

Polity Listing[edit]

The Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Foralin encompasses ten worlds with a population of 178 million. The highest population world is Saldazar (Far Home 1633). The highest tech level is B at Incal (Far Home 0931) and Saldazar (Far Home 1633). The average technology level is 7 (with most between 4 and 9).

The Sath Exploration Program claims one system.

There is one unclaimed or unexplored system in Foralin Subsector.

History & Background[edit]

Foralin Subsector saw almost no activity by humans prior to the establishment of the Third Confederation, and what little development there was abruptly ended with the onset of the Dark Age, nearly two thousand years ago. Following the Renaissance period survivor worlds were recontacted, scavengers picked over the few remains that there were, and hardy pioneers looked to the empty systems and the opportunities they presented. Almost all expansion and growth within the region is relatively modern, beginning during the so-called Golden Age and continuing with the nebulous Development Organizations and the rise of polities.

  • A strong social divide exists between wealthy and aristocratic Fives, descended from the original settlers and crew of the Last Armada, and Gens, individuals whose ancestors were grown in GenPods and raised by Hoppers.
