Incal is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and both non-agricultural and preindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- These worldlets are working towards being an industrial world but lack an adequate workforce to do so.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Foralin Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Spinward Drift Star Lane.

System Data[edit]
Kanda-Incal System[edit]
The primary is Kanda, a dim red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.004 Sols, a mass of 0.273 Sols, and a diameter of 414,000 km. (I) a sparse stony planetoid belt forms the inner part of the outer system. Orbital positions (II) through (V) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star. (VI) the Incal Main Belt, designated the mainworld, (VII) a small gas giant, and (VIII) a vacuum iceworld form the outer part of the outer system. The gas giant retains satellites.
Thamin Subsystem[edit]
The companion is Thamin, a dim red subdwarf star that orbits Kanda at a mean distance of 0.81 AU (orbital position (III), 121.2 million km) and has an orbital period of 1 year 144 days. It has a luminosity of 0.00054 Sols, a mass of 0.07 Sols, and a diameter of 91,500 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet forms the outer system. It does not retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(VI) Incal Main Belt[edit]
(VI) the Incal Main Belt orbits within the outer system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 3.1 AU from Kanda and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 50 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 2.5 AU from the star and the outer edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of icy bodies, is considered to lie at approximately 3.7 AU. The main inhabited body is named Moebius, with a mean orbital distance of 2.85 AU around Kanda and an orbital period of 9 years 76 days. It has a long axis of 120 km, a density of 3.34 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.003 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -195°C.

World starport[edit]
Incal has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World technology level[edit]
Incal possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World government[edit]
Incal is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
