Bhudevi is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Vanguard Subsector of Fulani Sector.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- It is the homeworld of the Varaha.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Bhudevi has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)
Bhudevi is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Bhudevi has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Bhudevi has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites:
Bhudevi retains a small arid very thin atmosphere moon.
- It orbits once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)
Bhudevi is busy, with a thriving economy and an advancing technological base.
- It is the homeworld of the Varaha, a species that number in the billions.
- Only a tiny percentage of Varaha are intelligent, serving as leaders and organizers.
- The resources of the system are gradually being exploited.
Various businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally arrive and depart.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in local languages and Zdetl.
- One or two commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)
Bhudevi has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Demographics (P)
Bhudevi has an intelligent population of 500,000 Varaha.
- These are the leaders and organizers of billions of mindless drones.
Urbanization
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)
Bhudevi possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World Government (G)
Bhudevi is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Military
Millions of non-sentient warriors.
World Law (L)
Bhudevi has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
