The Obsidian class Asteroid Monitor is a defensive warship.

Description (Specifications)[edit]
It is a system defense gun platform. These buffered asteroids have limited maneuver capabilities and no pursuit agility, it must lie in wait to allow prey to come to it. They are reliant on support vessels in order to stay on station for longer than a couple of weeks. The fleet tenders can be reconfigured easily to move these monitors from system to system when needed.
- They carry the heaviest meson gun spinal mount available in the Federation.
- It ordinarily carries two Long Boats and two Grav Sleds.
- It has a 248 sophont crew and 38 marines. They can carry a commando platoon.
