Zaharoff is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.

  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Zaharoff is a binary star system.

  • The primary is an orange main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Zaharoff has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Zaharoff is tidally locked to its primary star.

  • The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
  • The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.

is a Twilight Zone World.

It orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Zaharoff is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Zaharoff has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Zaharoff has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Extensive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Zaharoff is relatively busy. It is well developed and sees regular traffic, particularly large commercial bulk carriers transporting agricultural products.

  • The system has been settled for centuries.
  • Detailed information about the system is sparse.
  • The resources of the system are being exploited.

Various businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is fairly frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
  • Commo picks up constant signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • A number of commercial navigation beacons are active.
  • A few vessels will be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Zaharoff has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Zaharoff possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Zaharoff has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 120,000 personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Zaharoff has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: A (abundant)
  • Labor: 6 (millions)
  • Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
  • Efficiency: +3 (improved)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 3 (ordinary)

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Zaharoff has a population of 40,000,000

Urbanization[edit]

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 7 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: A (very friendly)
  • Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
