The Wuaye of Ingo are Humans considered native to Astron Sector.
- Their homeworld is located within Ingo Subsector.
- Their appearance is humanoid.
- Their technological competency is rated as sophisticated.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Biologically, Wuaye are Human. They are likely descended from Terran explorers of the Long Night period, though their exact origins remain unclear.
- Millennia of living on Ingo has changed their physiology.
- Wuaye are far more tolerant of high gravity than are normal Humans. They have a short stature, a stocky build, and are physically strong.
Demographics[edit]
The total known population equals 200 million individuals.
Native Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: B (discordant)
- Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Wuaye are believed to be descended from the survivors of two large Terran exploratory ships that crashed on Ingo sometime after -1900.
- The initial population of the world is believed to have been less than two thousand individuals.
- The population expanded relatively quickly and within a thousand years exceeded half a million, inhabiting a single fertile, mineral-rich equatorial region that experienced a temperate climate.
By -400 the Wuaye population exceeded 30 million, they had built a technologically advanced civilization, and had regained the ability to conduct interstellar travel by reverse-engineering the remnants of their original crashed vessels. A number of new ships were constructed and the Wuaye colonized the systems surrounding their adopted homeworld.
By -250 the Wuaye controlled six nearby systems. The colonies were:
- Gilet, a desert gas giant moon lacking native life, and with an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
- Astar, a tropical world with twin suns and many types of megafauna.
- Pyviro, a storm-wracked water world dotted with islands.
- Terbil, a pleasant temperate world rich with life.
- Bushask, a chilly gas giant moon with abundant aquatic life.
In addition, the Wuaye maintained a small coreward outpost.
- Hunon, a temperate world with a spore-tainted atmosphere and abundant native life.
Circa -100 a series of natural disasters struck the region of Ingo that held their civilization, causing widespread famine, an economic catastrophe, and a general technological crash.
By the Year 0 the final offworld colonies were abandoned, the settlers were repatriated to the homeworld, and the last of the Wuaye starships were mothballed.
- Rumors persist that not all of the settlers were recovered from the colony worlds, and that small Wuaye populations remain on some of them.
Since the disasters of a millennia ago, the Wuaye have been far more inward-looking, building cities all across their world. Their population has exploded to almost 200 million.
Astrography[edit]
This race is primarily located in the following areas:
Charted Space:
Homeworld[edit]
The homeworld of this race is:
- Ingo, a high gravity world with a thin atmosphere.
Local Technology[edit]
Ingo possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
Local Government[edit]
Ingo is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
Local Law[edit]
Ingo has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Listing: 1105[edit]
Significant communities of this race are known to dwell within the following systems and worlds:
Timeline: 1105[edit]
- ca -1900: The first known Humans (Terran explorers of the Rule of Man) are active within Astron Sector. The Wuaye are believed to be their descendants.
- ca -400: The Wuaye regain jump drive technology.
- ca -250 The Wuaye control six worlds beyond Ingo.
- ca -100: Natural disasters on Ingo cause an economic and technological crash.
- the Year 0: The offworld colonies are abandoned.
