Verstand is a high-population ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and industrial in nature with a billion or more sophonts in population size.

• These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
• Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
• As a group of industrial worldlets, well-developed manufacturing and processing sectors are major business here. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
• The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
• It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Duhamel Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.

• Asteroid belts have no climate, but experience extreme differences in temperature between direct starlight and shade.
• It is part of the Verstand-Jugartha Colonies region.

Verstand is an industrial world and major commercial hub. There is constant demand for quality food products, consumables such as cleaning products, and luxuries of all kinds. The various planetoid-states within the belt have colonial intentions and have claimed a number of surrounding systems.

• The resources of the system are being heavily exploited.

Many businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.

• There is heavy commercial traffic: ships constantly arrive and depart.
• Commo picks up constant signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
• Multiple commercial navigation beacons are active.
• Many vessels operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

The asteroid culture of Verstand is the same as that of Jugartha; the huge population of this greatly successful belter-spacer branch of Humaniti is highly influential in this part of Theta Borealis Sector.

World Starport (St)

Verstand has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

• High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.

Urbanization

Large self-governing cities are tunneled into large rocky planetoids.
