Then's World is an icy, low-population world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Then's World is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a red subdwarf.
  • The secondary is a brown dwarf substellar object.
Then's World has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Then's World is a moon of a large exotic atmosphere world.

The mainworld and its larger primary world orbit towards the outer edge of the star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Then's World is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

  • Tidal stresses generated by the large primary world cause frequent seismic and geological activity.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Then's World has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Then's World has 05-15% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.

  • The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
  • Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a small amount of the icy outer shell exposed.
  • Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No known native life, though some speculate that strange organisms live below the world's outer icy shell.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport[edit]

Then's World has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Then's World has a population of 3,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.

World Technology Level[edit]

Then's World possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Then's World is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
