Silaak is a low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment .
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Zachrisson Subsector of Fulani Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Silaak has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Silaak is a Twilight Zone World.
- One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Silaak is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Silaak has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world experiences high temperatures.
- The world has an arid, hostile surface environment.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Silaak has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. What little water or ice exists is heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
(Placeholder chart, exotic world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Exotic native life occupying a few specialist ecological niches. Its metabolic functions help drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Silaak is a backwater outpost with almost no development.
- The resources of the system are largely untapped.
There is limited activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively infrequent: ships only occasionally visit.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Silaak has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Silaak has a population of 200.
Urbanization[edit]
A single central facility, lying close to the starport, with a few outlying structures and compounds.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Silaak possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Silaak has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Military[edit]
- No information yet available.
World Law (L)[edit]
Silaak has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 1 (tens)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: +3 (improved)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
