The name of the world Nusku is of Akkadian origin from the region of ancient Mesopotamia. Nusku was a Babylonian/Assyrian god of fire and light and was known as Gibil in Sumerian.
Nusku was a strategic target for both the Terran forces and the Aasha Ziru Sirka throughout the Interstellar Wars. It changed hands three times: conquered by the Terrans in the Third Interstellar War, it was recaptured by the Aasha Ziru Sirka in the Fourth Interstellar War, and recaptured for good by the Confederation in the Fifth Interstellar War.
