Louzy has a thin tainted atmosphere and a lack of available surface water. The system has a population over one billion sophonts. It has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Jewell Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Louzy, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- Louzy is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It is part of the Regina Cluster and is it's own Imperial County in the Duchy of Regina
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Louzy has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
The mainworld is Louzy. Louzy gets its name from the unpleasant nature of its atmosphere and the lack of water on the planet. Louzy is a mining planet that has busted and overpopulated with a poor economy. The only reason that it was colonized in 624 was for its rich mineral deposits, which are now gone. [2]
One of the rocky worlds is Louzy II. Often referred to as ‘Louzy Too’, this world was colonized during the Third Frontier War by refugees who were refused entry to Louzy due to overpopulation. The water and air is tainted by sulphur from the high amount of volcanic activity on the planet. The atmosphere is not fatal in small doses but prolonged exposure requires filter masks. The water must also be filtered before it can be used. [2]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Louzy is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Louzy has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Louzy has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
The planet had enormous natural mineral reserves.
IISS GURPS Astrographics Survey[edit]
1604 Louzy (Imperial)
Starport: Class II.
Diameter: 3,356 miles (5,400 km).
Atmosphere: Very thin oxygen-nitrogen, tainted by high nitrogen at partial pressures high enough to cause illness (“nitrogen narcosis”) in some individuals.
Hydrographics: 16%.
Climate: Frozen.
Population: 10,000,000,000.
Government: Civil service bureaucracy.
Control Level: 5.
Tech Level: 8.
World Trade Number: 4.5.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The planet had enormous natural mineral reserves, and during the 600s Louzy saw a huge boom in ore mining and processing that drew the attention of several megacorps, including Sternmetal Horizons.
During the 700s Louzy saw the end of the easily-accessible deposits and experienced a global economic depression that took centuries to shake off.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Louzy has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Later History: Rebellion Era[edit]
In 1115 the Louzy economy is strictly-regulated by the world government but stable. A modest mid-tech industrial base exports raw materials and an increasing amount of finished goods through the formerly extensive starport.
Later History: Regency Era[edit]
Louzy's government broke apart in 1148 after a dispute over mining claims led to a brief flare up of "tribal warfare" between the militias of two separate settlements. The world government's response to the crisis was slow and inept, and several other communities joined the two contending factions. A three way division currently prevails, though one of these factions is showing signs of further devolution.
