The cluster is a point of exchange between Imperial corporations and their counterparts in the Khuur League, home of the Sydites, who once controlled the defunct Sydymic Empire. The cluster is also important as a link on the Jump-4 route into Gateway Sector, and sees official Imperial vessels passing through its ports -- and some long-range ships from Gateway going the other way (mainly from the Galian Federation).

Two worlds of the cluster are full Imperial members, one a client state. The rest vary in their attitude towards the Imperium and the League.
