Karam is a pre-agricultural, pre-Industrial world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts.
- It requires significant imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to slowly improve barring outside forces.
- This is a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
- It is a member of the Hanuman Systems in the Langley Subsector of Langere Sector.

World Starport[edit]
Karam has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
Linguistics[edit]
The following languages are used on this world:
- Hindi, a dialect of the Indo-Iranic Family of languages that the Terrans spread to the stars during the Terran Confederation and Rule of Man.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation. It is a second language within the Hanuman Systems.
- Firstspeak: A constructed interlingua based on Anglic, devised by the Solomani Party in order to overcome communication barriers created by the many diverse languages and dialects that have arisen over the centuries within the region since the time of the Terran Confederation. [2]
World Technology Level[edit]
Karam possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government[edit]
Karam is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.

World Culture[edit]
The Hanuman Systems owe their name to the local religion, an unusual mix of old Terran Hinduism and modern evolutionary theory. The Systems' inhabitants believe Hanuman -- the Hindu monkey god -- to be the patron deity of all primates, including Humans. They have gained a widespread reputation for their frequent ceremonies and devotions.
Karam is different from most Hanuman worlds due to its totalitarian government, and as such is a social outlier within the Hanuman community. The Solomani Confederation has interdicted the world, suggesting that its leadership is at odds with the Solomani Party.
