Imperial Army Intelligence (IAI) is the on-the-ground intelligence force of the ground forces of the Unified Forces of the Imperium.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Imperial Army Intelligence (IAI): The mission of Army Intelligence is to provide accurate and timely information on external and internal threats to the safety of the Imperium to Army commanders. Army Intelligence focuses primarily on information regarding the ground forces, tactics and strategic information about the worlds of the Imperium and those of its potential enemies. Internally, Army Intelligence keeps track of political movements, insurrections, terrorist groups and others whom they may be called upon to oppose. They also keep up-to-date cartographic information on all Imperial worlds and those of foreign polities near Imperial borders.

Although it is not strictly within their charter, Army Intelligence has on occasion run covert operations outside the Imperium for the purpose of gathering better data. Army Intelligence is tied to Imperial Naval Intelligence and the IISS Intelligence Branch, between which there is also a strong rivalry. The traditional rivalry between the Army and Navy has often become so heated that both sides are convinced that the other is holding back critical information, if not actively interfering in each other's operations. There have been documented occurrences of Navy and Army Intel running operations against each other, both accidentally and with malice.
