System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Hihn orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Hihn is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Hihn has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Hihn has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Satellites:[edit]

Hihn retains two tiny planetoid moons.

  • Their surfaces are cratered and irregular
  • They orbit once every few days.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Hihn is a quiet backwater with little advanced technology and almost no development.

  • The resources of the system are largely untapped.

A few private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally visit.
  • Commo generally only picks up natural background noise and static.
  • One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
  • Vessels are unlikely be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Hihn has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Hihn has a population of 2,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.

Urbanization[edit]

A few small urban areas each surrounded by satellite communities.

  • The population inhabit a single relatively large region.
  • Most of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Hihn possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.

World Government (G)[edit]

Hihn is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Military[edit]

Privately retained security personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Hihn has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 9 (moderate)
  • Labor: 2 (hundreds)
  • Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 3 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
  • Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
