Fazoklael is an icy, non-agricultural and nonindustrial vacuum world, whose surface is ice-capped and with nearly all of its water frozen and warranting hazardous environment precautions.

  • This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Fazoklael has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a turbulent red giant.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Fazoklael is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Fazoklael has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Fazoklael has 15-25% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.

  • The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
  • Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a part of the icy outer shell exposed.
  • Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Fazoklael has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

  • The world is host to a Naval Base.
  • Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.

World Population (P)[edit]

Fazoklael has a population of 1,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population entirely consists of Vargr.

Urbanization[edit]

Vargr cities are lively and chaotic, full of garish colours and loud noises. Streets are packed and buildings press together. Vehicle traffic is fast and chaotic; the accident rate is low only because of superior Vargr reflexes. Zoning codes are rare, and districts jumble together.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Fazoklael possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Fazoklael is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law (L)[edit]

Fazoklael has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -1 (unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 5 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 5 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
  • Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
