The Elsyel class Light Destroyer is a light warship used by the clans of the Aslan Hierate.
- It is a military ship and a Light Destroyer.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Elsyel-Class is an Aslan-built ship optimised for short-range combat, carrying a heavy fusion gun battery and enough laser turrets to put up a credible point defence. Its short-range weaponry mandates a high thrust of Manoeuvre 6 with surplus power generation, and its J-3 capability (with enough fuel for one such jump) gives it a decent strategic range, although it can find itself out-manoeuvred by J-4 or J-5 capable ships, such as those of the Third Imperium. The limited range of its main weapons have led to the development of variants swapping the fusion guns for particle accelerators and missiles[1].

General Description & Deck Plans[edit]
The Elsyel follows the traditional Aslan style, sporting the typical organic-like curves of Aslan architecture. It comprises two major sub-assemblies: an external armoured shell with cross-bracing, and an internal assembly comporting engines and power plant that slides into it, this single-structure construction method explaining the ship's durability[2].
Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Elsyel-Class is the latest of a long line of small, fast Aslan warships, having entered service in 868 Imperial, with its current incarnation representing two centuries of slow, incremental change to its original design. It can be found in great numbers operating beyond the Great Rift, where Clans with Ihatei eager for territory use them aggressively.
In 1106, a year before the Fifth Frontier War, a skirmish between a small group of Elsyels and an Imperial Gionetti class Light Cruiser took place in the lightly populated Noricum system in the Trojan Reach Sector, as Ihatei surveying the world for land were interrupted by the patrolling cruiser[5].
