Earltras is an industrial, high-population fluidic hellworld, with a billion or more sophonts in size, who are struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Kimson's Stand Subsector of Dark Nebula Sector.
  • This world-system has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

This system was known originally by the name of its primary, Mechane. Earltras wasn't settled until -700 by Terran refugees from the Mizah Cluster, as the Aslan Border Wars drove Terrans out of worlds deeper in Aslan space. By -500 the Aslan claimed most of the Mechane Cluster.

As the Long Night drew to a close, Earltras welcomed expeditions from both the Old Earth Union and the Third Imperium. It later became an early, enthusiastic supporter of the Solomani Movement. Earltras was captured by worlds from the Solomani Autonomous Region during the War of Kimson's Stand in 832.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Earltras has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
