Chang-Tu is a nonindustrial fluid world.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Chang-Tu Subsector of Theron Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chang-Tu is a binary star system.
- The primary is a blue-white main sequence.
- The secondary is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chang-Tu is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
- Tidal stresses generated by the world's close moon cause frequent seismic and geological activity.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chang-Tu has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chang-Tu has 25-35% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.
Satellites:[edit]
Chang-Tu retains a large close trace atmosphere moon.
- It orbits once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]
Exotic native life occupying a few specialist ecological niches. Its metabolic functions help drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chang-Tu is a corporate outpost with a thriving economy and an advancing technological base. The infrastructure supporting resource extraction, including power generation and rapid transit links, are in the process of being installed or upgraded.
- Settlement within the system comes from spinward, from the heavily populated worlds of Theta Borealis Sector.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
There is ongoing corporate activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively frequent: ships occasionally arrive and depart.
- Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
Deepspace Jump Hub[edit]
Chang-Tu is one of the primary destination worlds for vessels travelling from the Deepspace Jump Hub facility in Hex Sibigil 3117 of Theta Borealis Sector.

World Starport (St)[edit]
Chang-Tu has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The shipping corporation Baylor-Ator Lines moves products through this port.
World Population (P)[edit]
Chang-Tu has a population of 60,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
A single large urban center is surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Settled areas are surrounded by resource extraction and processing sites.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chang-Tu possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Chang-Tu is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
World Military[edit]
Corporate security forces.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chang-Tu has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: E (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: +3 (improved)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
- Symbols: C (very abstract)
