Abemire is a nonindustrial desert hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • This world has no free-standing water.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Trasfalca Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Abemire has a solitary primary star.

  • It is an unstable yellow bright giant.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Chart H+ Region Mw.png

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Abemire is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

  • It is a young world, still in the process of formation.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Abemire has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
  • Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
  • Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
  • The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
  • The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Abemire has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Satellites:[edit]

Abemire retains a tiny planetoid moon.

  • Its surface is cratered and irregular
  • It orbits once every few days.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Abemire is relatively busy, with a stable economy and acceptable standards of living.

  • The resources of the system are being exploited.

A number of businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
  • Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • The star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
  • Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Abemire is a world that should not exist. The star has too short a lifespan - a few tens of million years at most - for orbiting bodies to evolve beyond the molten protoplanet stage, yet Abemire is a fully formed, mature world. It has been suggested that the world has been extensively terraformed but there is little evidence to support this. There are few ideas about how or why it could have been done, or indeed who could actually have done it.

  • The geological structure of the world indicates it is at least a billion years old.
  • Academics continue to debate the world's origins.
  • Some propose that it is a previously unrecorded Ancients site.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Abemire has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Abemire has a population of 6 million.

Urbanization[edit]

A few large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
  • Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Abemire possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Abemire has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 20,000 personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Abemire has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: B (abundant)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
  • Efficiency: -3 (poor)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -1 (unimportant)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 4 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 5 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
