Harmony (Re 2935) is a poor moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in population size.
- It lacks the population and means to expand its economy at this point in time.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Moibin Subsector of Reft Sector in the Domain of Vland.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Harmony is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Harmony has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Harmony has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Harmony may be one of the least harmonious places in Charted Space. This somewhat dry but otherwise habitable world is home to about 950,000,000 people, of whom about half are ruled by a singularly unpleasant low-tech military dictatorship. The remainder of the population have -- thus far -- successfully rejected the rulership of the dictator.
Groups of volunteers sometimes slip onto Harmony and join the fight to keep the independent areas free from government control. The motivations of these 'Interstellar Brigades' vary considerably, but the locals take whatever help they can get.
World Starport[edit]
Harmony has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Harmony has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
World Government (G)[edit]
Harmony is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Harmony has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. Most worlds with this law level may be an Amber Zone or Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). All aspects of life rigidly controlled. There is no difference between the police and the military. This world is a full-fledged police state. Oppression is legalized, though not routine.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Harmony possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
