Brodie is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mora Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
  • It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
  • Brodie is a member of the Spinward Main.
  • It lies on the Mora Arm.
  • This world is controlled by Mora.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Brodie is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a turbulent red giant.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Brodie has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the primary star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's colder outer H- region.
  • It receives relatively low levels of stellar energy.

Chart Orbit HZ- Region Detailed.png

  • The world orbits inside the star's enormous Jump Shadow.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Brodie is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Brodie has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Brodie has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Brodie was one of several worlds settled in the early 400s, but a lack of investment in infrastructure caused the world to slide into a backwater. The government collapsed in 1101 and taken over first by the Imperial Navy, then by the government of Mora.

A small force of marines remains on station to enforce the Imperial will.

The system's huge primary star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Brodie has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Brodie has a population of 10,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The following languages are most commonly heard:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Brodie possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Brodie has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

This world is directly administered by the authorities on Mora.

World Law (L)[edit]

Brodie has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Brodie, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
