Rech is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Lanth Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- Rech is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stars
Rech has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x12 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giants.
Mainworld Data
Rech is a world with vast flatlands, known for its smoked meats and fine leathers. The turbulent atmosphere spawns tornadoes on a regular basis, and the high oxygen content is poisonous to humans and poses a severe fire hazard.
Mainworld Size (S)
Rech is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Rech has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Rech has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)

Proposed X-Boat Station
Prior to the Fifth Frontier War, the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service expressed interest in establishing an X-Boat link from Rhylanor (Spinward Marches 2716) to Rech to Dinomn (Spinward Marches 1912) and therefore on to Regina (Spinward Marches 1705). Rech lies two jump-4 jumps away from Rhylanor (Spinward Marches 2716) on a likely path toward Regina (Spinward Marches 1910), making it a candidate for the new X-Boat stop. Rech falls along the jump-2 path from Tureded (Spinward Marches 2414) to Dinomn (Spinward Marches 1912), and Rech's neighbor at Wypoc (Spinward Marches 2011) is Amber-rated so possibly not a preferred stop.
System Data
According to the Second Survey, Rech has an important index (Ix) of -1, an extended economic rating of 966-1 (9 Resources, 6 Labor, 6 Infrastructure, -1 Efficiency), an extended cultural index of 9678 (9 Homogeneity, 6 Acceptance, 7 Strangeness, 8 Symbols), a Nobility index of BCD (Knight, Baron, Marquis), 15 worlds (6?) in the system, and -378 Resource Units (RU).
History & Background (Dossier)
In addition to Rech Startown, other major settlements include Aaski and Blake's Town.
Rech has a decent highport, and a serviceable downport, but due to the harsh atmospheric conditions, ships must have special permits (and a special streamlining configuration) to land on the planet. Most of Rech Startown consists of subterranean starship berths accessible by elevator. [2]
