Hanover is a non-agricultural and nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It has few prospects for economic development.
  • It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the Noriega Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Chart Orbit HZ+ Region Detailed.png

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Hanover is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Hanover has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Vacuum World 04.jpg

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Hanover has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Satellites[edit]

Hanover retains a single small vacuum moon.

  • It orbits once every few days.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Hanover is a growing commercial outpost. Its facilities are in the process of being improved and upgraded.

  • It has been settled for centuries.
  • The resources of the system are gradually being exploited.

The population are culturally Muirimi.

  • The inhabitants can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
  • The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.

A few organizations and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally visit.
  • Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Naiurdu and Riftian Anglic.
  • One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
  • A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Its Naiurdu name, Havaalgi, translates as handover.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Hanover has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

  • There is ongoing construction at the port.

World Population (P)[edit]

Hanover has a population of 7,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Urbanization[edit]

A few large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
  • Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Hanover possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Hanover is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 12,000 personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Hanover has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 9 (moderate)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: +3 (improved)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 7 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
