The TC02 Grave Endeavor class Dropship is a TL–11 Troop Transport.

  • Its full designation is the TC02a Grave Endeavor class.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Grave Endeavor class Dropship is an "express elevator to hell" as one unknown marine once famously quipped. They are deployed aboard vessels from the Trooles Confederation. Examples of the class can be encountered throughout the coreward parts of Theta Borealis Sector. The vessel has a fully streamlined needle/wedge configuration structure hull. It is fitted with fuel scoops and allowing it to perform wilderness ocean refueling.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage 20 tons.
2. Crew x19 crew, the flight crew consists of a pilot/gunner who is usually an officer or commissioned specialist and a squad or section of 18 marines, there is a small craft bridge with two acceleration couches and seventeen addition life support couches in the troop bay. There are no staterooms nor lowberths.
3. Performance 3-G acceleration, Power plant-3, EP-0.6, Agility-3.
4. Electronics Model 2 computer.
5. Hardpoints x1 hardpoint.
6. Armament The normal weapons fit-out for it is:
  • x3 missile launchers firing as a single factor 2 battery
7. Defenses None
8. Craft None
9. Fuel Treatment Fuel Scoops.
10. Cost MCr20.375 (base)
MCr16.3 (qty).
11. Construction Time 24 weeks to build, 19 weeks in quantity.
12. Comments Architects Fee: MCr 0.204
  • Standard cargo capacity amounts to 0.1 tons. Typically this is a dedicated missile magazine.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The TC02 Grave Endeavor class Dropship class is used by the Trooles Confederation. These are fully streamlined dual environment vehicles. Lifting, variable geometry wings and heavy grav modules make them very maneuverable and they are legendary for their ability to "drop in on a small denomination metal coin." The bridge can not support a fiber optical back up system and larger computers were rejected because of the power drain, which this reactor could not sustain. Fire control is adequate for ground support roles, but this craft is not expected to engage enemy fleet combatants. The size of the marine squad deployed varies from vessel to vessel. Larger ships typically carry this design's bigger brother the 40 dton TC04 Valkyrie class Dropship. Power restrictions also lead to the cancellation of a pulse laser installation project. The 3-G acceleration and agility is considered just enough to get in and get out of hot LZs on contested border worlds without losing room for marines in the troop bay. The armored hull variant, popular with marine brass, was rejected for that reason as well. It would have curtailed speed and lowered the troop capacity.

Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]

Class Naming Practice/s:
Vessels of the Trooles Confederation are given alphanumeric designations and callsigns by other interstellar states. TC refers to Trooles Confederation (a designation applied to all Confederation combat units), 04 is a combat smallcraft designation, and when it is used 'a' refers to the version of the vessel, relating to its construction tech level. Type codes will often repeat: 'Grave Endeavor', often shortened to 'Endeavor', is an easy to remember class name to identify the specific type of vessel.
