- Three turrets provide basic cover, although many Owatarls refit some of their cargo bays to carry fighter patrols.
- The tender is unable to land, so it carries a shuttle for cargo transfer. Tenders assigned to supply other ships may replace the shuttle bay with a suite of repair drones and smaller launches.
- Normal crew consists of a captain, 2 pilots, navigator, executive officer, 2 engineers, small craft pilot and 3 gunners.
