The Krivak class Frigate is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Frigate.
Description (Specifications)
Krivak class Frigates serve with the navy of the Kostov Confederate Republic, a member state of the Solomani Confederation. They are fast and nimble craft with a well balanced array of weapons but they have a poor track record for safety, with a number of examples being lost in service.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
| No. | Category | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| 1. | Tonnage | The Krivak class is constructed using a 3,300 Ton hull built in a Close Structure configuration. The hull is partially streamlined, giving a relatively limited atmospheric performance that is reliant on its onboard gravitic systems.
|
| 2. | Crew | x50 personnel.
Accommodations
Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.
|
| 3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a Jump-3 drive, a Maneuver-6 drive, and a Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-3 and 6-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 4 and an emergency agility of 6. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for one Jump-3 and giving the power plant 4 weeks duration.
|
| 4. | Electronics | Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/6fib computer: no backup computer is installed.
|
| 5. | Hardpoints | 33 hardpoints.
|
| 6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for a Krivak class is:
|
| 7. | Defenses | The hull is plated, structurally reinforced, and built with secure bulkheads and compartments that give it a High Guard armor rating of 4.
|
| 8. | Craft | The vessel carries no subcraft.
Vehicles The APC is housed in a sealable compartment with external doors and with a volume of 7.8 Tons. It can be launched and docked while the Krivak is in motion. |
| 9. | Fuel Treatment | The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 1,188 Tons.
|
| 10. | Cost | The basic cost of the vessel is MCr3,331.492
|
| 11. | Construction Time | 136 weeks (31 months) as standard.
|
| 12. | Comments | Standard cargo capacity amounts to 42.0 Tons. The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems. |
History & Background
Krivak class Frigates serve with the Kostov Confederate Navy of the Kostov Confederate Republic, a member state of the Solomani Confederation. 120 examples of the Krivak class were constructed and 113 remain in service. They are occasionally called upon for Confederation service.
The crews of Krivak class vessels engage in good-natured though fierce rivalry with their counterparts aboard Leningrad class Destroyers. Despite its smaller size, the Krivak can deliver a harder blow than its heavier cousin. The Leningrad crews have learned to keep their mouths shut: the hardy and versatile Frigates are clearly the better craft.
