The Khuur League is a polity in trailing Ley Sector. A remnant of the Sydymic Empire crushed by the Third Imperium, the League is largely demilitiarised but is once again flexing its muscles in the neighbouring Gateway Sector.

The native Sydites are a Minor Human Race, distinguished primarily by having four arms and by their average height of 2.4 meters (8 feet).

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The League always traded freely among independent worlds beyond the Imperial frontier, and with worlds that were once part of the Sydymic Empire but were subsequently absorbed by the Imperium. In recent years the League has begun to look farther afield for new markets, and has begun to invest more in Imperial worlds even as it resents Imperial hegemony.

Military[edit]

The treaty imposed by the Third Imperium at the surrender of the Sydymic Empire prohibits the League from possessing military forces, though individual member worlds are permitted a defensive force and a few escort ships for commerce protection. All worlds have a force of System Defence Boats, orbital fortresses, ground-based defenses, and ground forces of varying capability.

Armed merchant cruisers are operated by various members. The League does build small warships for export, mainly large and rugged escort vessels sold in the Gateway and Crucis Margin sectors. These vessels are typically Sydite -- heavy and solid, with an emphasis on close and middle-range weapons. Such vessels are well suited to unimaginative Sydite battle tactics, designed to close with the enemy and stubbornly slug it out.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Often perceived as big strong brutes without imagination, the Sydites nevertheless controlled an extensive interstellar empire at their height of their power. The Sydymic War two centuries ago saw the Sydymic Empire destroyed by the Third Imperium, forcing the Sydites to rebuild their society and technological infrastructure. Although most Sydites are encountered in the Delta Quadrant of Ley sector, small enclaves exist throughout the Gateway Domain and surrounding areas.
