Yer is a poor, low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Yer has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a yellow main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Yer is a satellite of a gas giant.

Gas Giant Moons 10e.jpg

The mainworld and its gas giant primary orbit within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • They lie within the zone's prime H region.
  • They receive moderate levels of stellar energy.
  • The gas giant is "puffy", warm and swollen due to the energy it receives from the star.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Yer is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Yer has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Yer has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

  • Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Yer is focused entirely around the Unity Navy, with little by way of other commercial development. A Unity Naval Base is sited within the system.

Commercial traffic is frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart, usually en route to somewhere else.

  • Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Zdetl.
  • Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
  • : naval vessels and supply ships regularly stop over.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Yer has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Yer has a population of 4,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
  • It entirely consists of Vlazhdumecta humans, largely the families and dependents of naval personnel.

Urbanization[edit]

A large central urban area surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Outlying areas have a few isolated structures or compounds.
  • Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Yer possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Yer is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Military[edit]

Naval security personnel, Marines.

World Law (L)[edit]

Yer has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 6 (few)
  • Labor: 2 (hundreds)
  • Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)
