Urpa is an agricultural world with an ideal environment for producing food from plants, animals, or other lifeforms. The system has a population between 100,000 and 10 million sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Iiradu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Urpa, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a baron. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This is the homeworld of the Urpayan, a Variant Human Race. During the Long Night this world was named Pirga Uur.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Urpa is home to the Urpayans. This race is virtually identical to Humaniti save for their pink pigmentation, purple eyes and hair, and their ability to breathe their homeworld's tainted air. Internal anatomy is almost identical to Humans except the Urpayans have an extremely efficient filter within their large lungs.

Urpa is located on the Vilani Main.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Urpa is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Urpa has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Urpa has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

In the era of the expanding Third Imperium, Urpa was first surveyed by a ship belonging to the Restryk Corporation, which subsequently regarded the planet as its own property and now treats the Urpayans as slaves, albeit well-treated ones. Urpayans are not allowed to leave the planet or take up employment with anyone other then the Corporation. The main products of Urpa include sweet vegetables, handicrafts, and mechanical locks of great beauty and effectiveness.

An Urpayan leaving the planet will require dietary supplements and a breathing apparatus to supply trace gasses; poisonous to others but vital for their survival.

Archaeologists studying the Urpayans have noted the absence of any similar species, either now or in the planet's past. This contradicts the possibility of parallel evolution at work. The possibility of the Urpayans as a Minor Human Race has also been rejected. In 899 an archaeologist named Hirum Temple published a book arguing that no-one to date had found any trace of the Urpayans existing on the planet before the Rule of Man. The Urpayans were an extremely primitive race prior to their contact, and have no records or stories which explain their origins.

It was eventually determined that the Urpayans were indeed created during the Rule of Man, and are a Variant Human Race.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Urpa has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Urpa has a population of 800,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Government (G)[edit]

Urpa is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Urpa has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Urpa possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
