Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Retaliator class Heavy Fighter is a combatant smallcraft.
- It is a military ship and a Heavy Fighter.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Retaliator class Heavy Fighter was designed for service with the Bain Defense Squadron, the space force of Bain, a world lying in Spica Sector and a member of the Solomani Confederation. The sleek, generally cone-shaped hull is streamlined, allowing for wilderness refueling. Retaliators are capable combat craft, with armored hulls and mounting a triple missile turret. While the armor is useful in dogfights and against ground fire it offers little protection against fire from larger weapons.
- The vessel is a TL-10 design.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
No. | Category | Remarks |
---|---|---|
1. | Tonnage | The Retaliator class is constructed using a 71 Ton hull built in a generally Conical configuration. The hull is fully streamlined and has airfoil surfaces, giving good atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems.

2. | Crew | x1 crew:
Accommodations
Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.
|
3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a Maneuver-6 drive and a Power Plant-11, giving performance of 6-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 6. The internal fuel tankage gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
|
4. | Electronics | Adjacent to the small craft bridge is a Model/4 computer: no backup computer is installed.
|
5. | Hardpoints | x1 hardpoint.
|
6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for a Retaliator class is: |
7. | Defenses | The hull is plated, structurally reinforced, and built with secure bulkheads and compartments that give it a High Guard armor rating of 5.
|
8. | Craft | The vessel carries no subcraft. |
9. | Fuel Treatment | The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 6.39 Tons.
|
10. | Cost | The basic cost of the vessel is MCr51.072
|
11. | Construction Time | 30 weeks (7 months) as standard.
|
12. | Comments | Standard cargo capacity amounts to 1.52 Tons: it functions as a magazine for additional missiles. |
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Retaliator class Heavy Fighter serves with the Bain Defense Squadron, the space force of Bain, a Solomani world lying in Spica Sector. They are occasionally called upon for Confederation service. The Retaliator operates alongside the Aurora, Hornet, and Constellation classes of Fighters: the class are used to lead small composite fighter squadrons. Retaliators have a bridge and a single small stateroom, which gives them sufficient endurance to be used on long patrols and picket duty.
