Lysen has a tainted, unbreatheable atmosphere and little available surface water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Jewell Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Lysen, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel.
- It is a part of the Jewell Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Lysen has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Lysen is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Lysen has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Lysen has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Lysen maintains the jump-4 route to Efate (Spinward Marches 1705) across the rift.
IISS GURPS Astrographics Survey[edit]
1307 Lysen (Imperial)
Starport: Class IV - Scout Base.
Diameter: 4,723 miles (7,600 km).

Climate: Tropical.
Population: 6,531,000.
Government: Technocracy (the Lysen Consortium).
Control Level: 2.
Tech Level: 9.
World Trade Number: 4.0.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Most of the world's population works at or is dependent on the starport and its scout base.
Lysen is defended by a number of Scout Service vessels, including two Azhanti High Lightning-class cruisers, converted to a sublight-only monitor role.
It lies within the Jewell Rift.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Lysen has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
Later History: Regency Era[edit]
Lysen's technocratic government collapsed amidst a series of major bribery scandals in the 1170s. Several communities seceded, and formed separate nations. The world's downport is itself a sovereign nation, albeit non-aligned with any major factions.
