Gembolia is a high-population world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Gembolia Subsector of Astron Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- The Twilight region experiences low temperatures.
- It is the homeworld of the Nibammer.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Gembolia has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Gembolia is a Twilight Zone World.
- One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary orbit within the star's Habitable Zone.
- They lie within the zones colder outer H- region.
- They receive lower levels of stellar energy.
- They orbit inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
This world is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
This world has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world experiences low temperatures.
- Much of the surface is covered in glaciers, ice, frost, and snow.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
This world has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant, diverse native life filling every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Many native lifeforms are subterranean, inhabiting complex burrows or warrens.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Gembolia is the homeworld of the Nibammer.
- They are industrious, efficient, subterranean herbivores with tough pill-shaped bodies.
- They live in a strict, rigid, caste-based society.
First contact occurred millennia ago.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Gembolia has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Gembolia possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Gembolia is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 200 million soldier caste.
World Law (L)[edit]
Gembolia has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 9 (moderate)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Gemboila has a population of 2,000,000,000 Nibammer.
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large cities, each surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Cities are located across the world, principally within the twilight zone.
- Regional centers have their own starports.
- Structures and facilities are sealed.
- Some temperate regions of the surface of the world are preserved as wilderness.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: D (fragmented)
- Acceptance: 9 (friendly)
- Strangeness: 2 (typical)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
