The Nibammer of Gembolia are a Minor Non-Human Race native to Astron Sector.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Nibammer are naturally adapted to far colder conditions and lower atmospheric pressures than Humans find tolerable.

They are industrious, efficient, subterranean herbivores.

Physiology[edit]

  • Pill-shaped bodies.
  • Bilateral N-TBS-AN-LN-N
  • External carapace
  • Hemolymph fluids
  • Tentacle manipulators

The Nibammer body features no head or neck and no arms. They are large and pill-shaped with a hard external carapace, and with two legs emerging from the lower end; these have powerful clawed toes. Tentacle-arms emerge from the carapace as needed.

Although they are capable of surviving and functioning in low air pressures and low temperatures, Nibammer prefer a slightly more temperate environment. Their subterranean cities are sealed, with increased internal air pressure and elevated temperatures.

  • Many of their world's native lifeforms display similar behaviour, creating sealed underground burrows or warrens and practicing forms of agriculture.

Demographics[edit]

The total known population equals 2 billion individuals.

Urbanization[edit]

Their homeworld has multiple large cities, each surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Cities are located across the world, principally within the twilight zone.
  • Regional centers have their own starports.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed.
  • Some temperate regions of the surface of the world are preserved as wilderness.

Native Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: D (fragmented)
  • Acceptance: 9 (friendly)
  • Strangeness: 2 (typical)
  • Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Nibammer live in a strict, rigid, caste-based society.

Around ten percent of the population (around 200 million individuals) are members of the soldier caste.

First contact with the Nibammer was made by Eniri Hudson, a retired bureaucrat turned frontiersman and explorer of the Rule of Man era.

Local Technology[edit]

Gembolia possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

Local Government[edit]

Gembolia is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

Local Law[edit]

Gembolia has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Listing: 1105[edit]
