It is a member of Julian Protectorate in the Flange Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Hegemony of Lorean. This world supports a Military Base and the system supports a Naval Base.

Flange is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Flange has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Flange has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History and Background

This was one of the worlds ruled by Humans by 375, during the War of Man. Later, the Suedzuk regained their dominance over Humaniti.

The interstellar polity of the Flange Democratic Zone was founded in 705.

The expanding Arzula attacked Ssilnthis (Empty Quarter 1704) and the Flange Democratic Zone in 796. Both attacks were repelled. As part of the subsequent peace, the Flange Democratic Zone was dissolved.

In search of larger markets, Flange petitioned to join the Arzula's Hegemony of Lorean in 960. This was granted in 963, over the strong objections of the Rukadukaz Republic.

Flange's situation is curious: a Blood Vargr minority ruling class are seen as the legitimate planetary rulers by the majority Human population, even as the system is a member of the highly anti-Vargr Hegemony of Lorean. The Suedzuk of Flange are only about 10% of the population, but -- after a period of second-class status -- have once again clawed their way to the top of the political food chain.

World Starport

Flange has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
