Delburt is a low-population desert world with a population less than 10,000 sophonts in population size.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ventura (Theta Borealis) Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Delburt is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent yellow-white bright giant named Ortigen.
- The secondary is a tiny white dwarf stellar remnant.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars gigantic Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Delburt is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
- The world is seismically and geologically active.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Delburt has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Delburt has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Satellites:[edit]
Delburt retains a relatively small, relatively close, very thin atmosphere moon.
- It orbits once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Delburt and its moon are worlds that should not exist. The star has too short a lifespan - a few tens of million years at most - for orbiting bodies to evolve beyond the molten protoplanet stage, yet Delburt and its moon are fully formed, mature worlds. It has been suggested that they have been extensively terraformed but there is little evidence to support this. There are few ideas about how or why it could have been done, or indeed who could actually have done it.
- The geological structure of the world indicates it is billions of years old.
- Academics continue to debate the world's origins.
- Some propose that it is a previously unrecorded Ancients site.
There is little activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is very infrequent: ships rarely visit.
- Commo occasionally picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
- A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Delburt is the site of a research outpost investigating how the world formed.
- The resources of the system remain largely untapped.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Delburt has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Delburt has a population of 20 sophonts (tens).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without significant outside assistance. This may represent a transient population such as the crew of a starship, the final survivors of a dying colony, an advance team setting up to receive colonists, or a small outpost where establishing a colony is not the primary objective.
- The population consists of researchers, support staff, and their immediate families.
Urbanization[edit]
A single central facility with a few outlying structures and compounds.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Delburt possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Delburt has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Military[edit]
Privately retained security personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Delburt has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 0 (none available)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 6 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
