Chang-Su is a poor, non-agricultural, high-population desert world, with a billion or more sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- Despite this world's industrial prowess, it remains poor. Some blame this on the high prices of food, which must be imported. Others blame the nature of a desert world. Whatever the reason, something needs to change in order for this world to prosper.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Banderhue Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chang-Su is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a tiny white dwarf stellar remnant.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chang-Su is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chang-Su has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chang-Su has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Satellites:[edit]

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No information yet available.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chang-Su's society descends from the same Solomani root as that of Chang-Tu, Manshu and Shen Tsi across the sector border in Theron. Indeed, those worlds were first settled from here. Unlike its rather xenophobic offshoots, Chang-Su is welcoming to outsiders, cultivating warm relations with other worlds. This is necessary, given the limited ability of this desolate world to support its high population without outside trade and supply.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Chang-Su has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Facilities[edit]
Port facilities within the system include:
- No information yet available.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chang-Su possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Chang-Su is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. This is a continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and been replaced by allies or protégés. The justifications for the original change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.
World Military[edit]
No information yet available.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chang-Su has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: 9 (extensive)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Chang-Su has a population of 2,000,000,000
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large cities, each surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Cities are located across the world.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Regional centers have their own starports.
- Some regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 9 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 9 (friendly)
- Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
- Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
