A'a'suni is a moderate population world, too many sophonts to be an agricultural world but not enough to be an industrial world. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. This a low technology world with technology competency below the standard for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pact Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. A'a'suni, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight and a baronet, and the fiefdoms of a marquis and a viscount. All four are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. This is the homeworld of the Athar, a Minor Race. During the Long Night this world was named Iris.

System Data[edit]

A'a'suni and its moon, Inuirsuk, are binary planets, each spiraling around a central point of gravity once every seven days, as they orbit the central star. The planet is covered in layers of ice many kilometers thick and the local life has adapted itself to the severe cold.

Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

A'a'suni has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

A'a'suni is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

World Atmosphere (A)

A'a'suni has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

A'a'suni has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

World Population (P)

A'a'suni has a population of 100,000,000 to 999,999,999 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Government (G)

A'a'suni is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are young governments, coming as a recent change and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.

World Law Level (L)

A'a'suni has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. On worlds with this degree of law, it is difficult to distinguish the police from the military. On others, there is no difference.

World Technology Level (TL)

A'a'suni possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

A'a'suni, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of four members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Native Sophont: Athar[edit]

The pacifistic Athar are descended from hexapodal (six-limbed) carnivores. They are rarely seen off-world as their ideal temperature is -130°C and they would boil to death in normal human temperatures.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The world is actually run by a bureaucracy divided into a number of Councils, all concerned with different aspects of life on A'A'Suni. Some of the most important include the Council of the Environment, the Council of Provision, and the Council of Defense. Usually a single extended family forms the core of a Council, and is headed by the leader of the family.
