Querte is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Farin Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System data
The primary is Vasily, a huge red giant star. It has a luminosity of 2280 Sols, a mass of 7.4 Sols, and a diameter of 317 million km – the corona extends as far as 1.05 AU, to orbital position (IV). The inner system consists of (V) a sparse rocky planetoid belt, (VII, VIII) two rocky vacuum worlds, and (IX) an insidious atmosphere world – orbital position (VI) is empty. (X) Forex, a large gas giant, occupies the habitable zone: (IXc) Querte is its third moon and is designated the mainworld. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
The companion is Orlov, a dim red main sequence star that lies 2950 AU distant from Vasily. It has a luminosity of 0.0025 Sols, a mass of 0.244 Sols, and a diameter of 334,000 km. (I, II) two rocky vacuum worlds, (III) a small gas giant, and (IV) a large exotic atmosphere world form the outer system. The gas giant and the outer world retain satellites.
(X) Forex
(X) Forex is a large gas giant that orbits Vasily at a mean distance of 41.2 AU and has an orbital period of 97 years 78 days. It has a diameter of 94,000km and is a heavily banded blue colour. It retains a family of five major satellites of which the third, (Xc) Querte, is designated the mainworld.
(IV) Querte
(IV) Querte is designated the mainworld and orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 35 diameters (3.43 million km), with an orbital period of 1 year 174 days and a rotation period of 43 days 12 hours. The axial tilt is 4 degrees. Querte has a diameter of 6,782 km, a density of 5.29 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.51 G. It is flexed by tidal stresses and is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.16 bar and a composition of 85% nitrogen, 12% oxygen, 2% carbon dioxide, and 1% argon, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, neon and other trace gases: the taint is caused by the low percentage of oxygen and gases of volcanic origin. Approximately 23% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: XX°C. The atmosphere is sluggish and slow weather systems, driven by the star and the seas, crawl across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.

History & Background (Dossier)
- A former member of the Corolian Jurisdicture.
World starport
Querte has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Querte possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World government
Querte is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
