(5344AD–5366AD): The Corolian Border Wars were a series of conflicts and engagements between the Scybrian Polyarchy and the Corolian Jurisdicture during the Scybrian Wars.

Background / Specifications[edit]

The Corolian Border Wars were largely fought in Tsorva Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

The wars concerned settlement disputes, mineral rights, and territorial claims in the neutral systems (the so-called Border Worlds) that lay between the two states. They were characterised by small-scale naval skirmishes and by mercenary actions financed by interested parties.

Background[edit]

The causes of the Corolian Border Wars are generally agreed to be Scybrian expansionism and the protectionist trade polities of the Corolian Jurisdicture. In the decades prior to the war Scybria cast its gaze on the supposedly neutral worlds lying in the rimward half of Tsorva Subsector. These worlds had always been closer to the Jurisdicture, having been settled under the auspices of the Outworld Development organisation during the previous centuries, but all had significant minorities of Scybrian descent.

The majority of the conflict was minor skirmishing and petty engagements between small groups of settlers. Most of the conflicts were brief affairs, with the fighting concluded and a treaty agreed before news of the outbreak of hostilities reached the respective capitals. In many cases a new conflict would break out before a full settlement had been reached in the previous peace. Some of the Border Wars, most notably the Haden Insurgency, lasted for decades and cost many thousands of lives.

After a generation of squabbling and fighting, the Border Wars were ended by the formal ratification of accords and agreements that guaranteed the neutrality of the border worlds and led to the Short Peace.
