Wardn is a pre-agricultural, nonindustrial garden world.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most forms of sophontic life.
- It is a pre-agricultural world with an environment suitable for large scale agricultural and livestock industries that have not yet been widely developed.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to gradually rise barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- Wardn is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stars
Wardn has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, Wardn.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds. These are:
- X0107-1: Uninhabited but has been surveyed from time to time, and as of 1100 is subject to routine flybys by Scout Service vessels.
This is partly due to the system’s sensitive location on the Imperial border. - Pzl: uninhabited.
- X0107-6: a rockball planet.
- X0107-7: a forbidding environment of no real economic or strategic value, but the Scout Service maintains a small research outpost on the surface.
- X0107-1: Uninhabited but has been surveyed from time to time, and as of 1100 is subject to routine flybys by Scout Service vessels.
- x2 gas giants.
- Enex: small gas giant, location of Scout Base Enex.
- Apelinne: small gas giant.
Mainworld Data
Wardn's weak magnetic field and thin oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere result in high levels of surface radiation.
Mainworld Size (S)
Wardn is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Wardn has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Wardn has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- While the world has a wide range of environments, it is most well known for the patterned deserts of the northern hemisphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Some worlds were coded rather than named, following the practice of assigning an X code to uninhabited worlds with no locally assigned name that had found their way into navigational databases.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility
Lanth, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdom of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
IISS GURPS Astrographics Survey
1727 Wardn (Independent)
Starport: Class IV - Scout base.
Diameter: 6,774 miles (10,800 km).
Atmosphere: Thin oxygen-nitrogen.
Hydrographics: 62%.
Climate: Warm.
Population: 76,000.
Government: Bureaucracy.
Control Level: 2.
Tech Level: 10.
World Trade Number: 3.5.
Point of Interest: Mysterious Petroglyphs
Wardn's famed Patterned Desert features intricate patterns carved into its surface, with no known source. While some experts have suggested that these patterns are caused by anaerobic life, others think they might be relics from earlier civilizations.[2]
Urbanization
The port and major city is called Strellin.
History & Background (Dossier)
Wardn was formerly known as Silver and one of the Metal Worlds, but has not been considered part of that group for centuries.
The Imperial Scout Base at Enex (fifth planet of the Wardn system) was originally built to facilitate study of the Sword Worlds a few parsecs to Spinward.
