Dinloc is a moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in population size.

  • It orbits the systems secondary star.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Dinloc is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a huge orange giant named Pareeko.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Dinloc has two stars in the star system.

Notes[edit]

The two stars of the Dinloc system have an average separation of 700 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them.

  • They have an orbital period around one another of approximately 8,800 standard years.
  • The barycenter lies inside the giant primary star.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Dinloc is tidally locked to the system's secondary star.

  • The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
  • The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.

Twilight Zone World Horizon Shore 02.jpg

It orbits within the prime region of the secondary star's habitable zone.

Chart Orbit HZ Region Detailed.png

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Dinloc is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Dinloc has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Dinloc has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

(Placeholder chart, predominantly watery world.)

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Dinloc has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Dinloc possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Dinloc has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Military[edit]

  • No information yet available.

World Law (L)[edit]

Dinloc has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: E (extremely abundant)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 2 (ordinary)

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Dinloc has a population of 300 million.

Urbanization[edit]

Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
  • Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 6 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: A (very friendly)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
