Lagel is a rich world with a moderate population over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Most observers think that the planet's economy and population will prosper in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ventura (Theta Borealis) Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
- It is part of the Verstand-Jugartha Colonies region.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Lagel is a trinary star system.
- All three are orange main sequence stars.
Trinary Solar System
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Lagel is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Lagel has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Lagel has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
- The world experiences low temperatures.
- Much of the surface is a frigid, hostile environment.
Satellites:[edit]
Lagel retains two small vacuum moons.
- The worlds orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native life thrives in low temperatures.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Lagel is a thriving but insular world. Outsiders are treated with caution and suspicion.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Lagel has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The passenger port is extremely luxurious.
- The cargo and maintenance facilities are very basic.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Lagel has a population of 600 million.
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Lagel possesses a Technology Level of TL–2.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay, the printing press, long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Water wheels and wind power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding beasts and creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World Government (G)[edit]
Lagel is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 1.5 million personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Lagel has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 7 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 1 (extremely concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
