The Last Armada class Fuel Shuttle is an Auxiliary.

Description (Specifications)

The Fuel Shuttle is a historical design produced in the Terran Confederation during the early 22nd century. Many example of the class were carried aboard the vessels of the Last Armada as they fled the Destruction of Terra at the hands of the Vilani Imperium in 2147AD. The class were sturdy and reliable and endured more than a century of hard service.

  • The vessel is a TL-11 design.

Basic Ship Characteristics

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage The Fuel Shuttle is constructed using a 60 Ton hull built in a Cylinder configuration. The hull is partially streamlined, giving a relatively limited atmospheric performance that is reliant on its onboard gravitic systems.
  • The vessel is fitted with an airlock. It does not have an airlock.
  • The vessel has sturdy retractable legs, allowing surface landings.
2. Crew 1 crew.
  • 1 Pilot/Commander.

Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.

  • There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off.
  • There is an emergency locker.
3. Performance The vessel mounts a Maneuver-3 drive and a Power Plant-3, giving performance of 3-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 3. The internal fuel tankage gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
  • The engineering section is controlled from the bridge.
4. Electronics There is a cockpit containing a pilot's acceleration couch and a Model/2 computer: no backup computer is installed.
  • The vessel is fitted with communications equipment and a basic sensor array.
  • It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5. Hardpoints 1 hardpoint.
6. Armament The Fuel Shuttle is not armed.
7. Defenses The hull is plated, structurally reinforced, and built with secure bulkheads and compartments that give it a High Guard armor rating of 2.
  • The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8. Craft The vessel carries no subcraft.
9. Fuel Treatment The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 1.8 Tons.

Refuelling Tankage

  • 40.0 Tons of the internal space is taken up by auxiliary fuel tankage.
10. Cost The basic cost of the vessel is MCr36.225
  • Architects Fee: MCr0.363
11. Construction Time 27 weeks (6 months) as standard.
  • Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12. Comments Standard cargo capacity amounts to 0.1 Tons.

History & Background (Dossier)

Fuel Shuttles are essentially a stripped down variant of the Survey Shuttle. They were constructed in great numbers at Terran-controlled shipyards throughout the Interstellar Wars period. Large numbers were transported to the Expedition's private port facilities in the empty systems lying to rimward of Terra. Once there, their fitting out was completed and they were laid up against the Expedition's future needs.
