History & Background (Dossier)

This world is part of the "Shaaaki Cluster" cultural zone. Shaaaki were the product of a hybrid Vilani-Solomani culture, and once prosperous. However, two centuries into the Imperial era, the environment of Shaaak (modern Syroe) had become severely degraded by unbridled industry. Emperor Martin II deindustrialised the planet and ordered a mass emigration of the Shaaaki people to several nearby worlds, among them Umgadin.

The Emperor is known to keep a Summer Palace here.

  • This summer palace is known to contain a vast museum from with exhibits about the flora and fauna from the Marastan Imperial Reserve.

Imperial High & Landed Nobility

Umgadin, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Starport (St)

Umgadin has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Umgadin has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

Linguistic Topography

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (TL)

Umgadin possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)

Umgadin is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

The Umgadini are the most liberal of the Shaaaki systems. Their parliamentary republic's two most dominant factions are the Orange (centrist) and Sparkle (traditionalist) blocs.

World Law (L)

Umgadin has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
