Yusto is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Yusto is a binary star system.

  • Both are red main sequence stars.
  • The system lies on the edge of the Idella Rift.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Yusto is a Twilight Zone World.

  • One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
  • In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.

Twilight Zone World Horizon 8a.jpg

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Yusto is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Yusto has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Yusto has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

  • The world experiences high temperatures.
  • Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Yusto is a backwater outpost with little development. Some of the planets and moons within the system have never had an intelligent being visit them.

  • The resources of the system are being explored.

There is limited activity within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is infrequent: ships rarely visit.
  • Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
  • A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Yusto has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Yusto has population of 200 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.

Urbanization[edit]

A single central facility, lying close to the starport, with a few outlying structures and compounds.

  • Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Yusto possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Yusto is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.

World Military[edit]

Privately retained security personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Yusto has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 9 (moderate)
  • Labor: 1 (tens)
  • Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
  • Efficiency: +2 (good)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -1 (unimportant)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 6 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
  • Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
