Vras is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Vras has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Vras has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

Native Lifeforms

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Native Sophont (NIL): Schalli

The Schalli descend from island-dwelling amphibians, forced permanently into the ocean by the melting of Vras' icecaps several million years ago. From all evidence, their ancestors were on the verge of intelligence even then.

Until their belated contact with Humaniti, the Schalli were happy with their non-technological achievements. Having been finally recognised as sapient and given Imperial citizenship, they are now applying their considerable talents to catching up with the rest of Charted Space.

World Starport

Vras has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Vras has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Timeline

-3691:

• Scouts of the Ziru Sirka chart the area.

Circa -3600:

• Vras is settled by Vilani colonists, but these colonists never realize that the fish-like kiiroka are not just smart animals, but sophonts.

Imperial Date 1098:

• Several thousand kiiroka are captured from Vras and relocated to the uninhabited nearby world of Schall (Old Expanses 0638).
• The sentience of the kiiroka is recognized immediately by Dr. Darch von Changli.
• The Marquis of Vras (Old Expanses 0738) suppresses the news and plans to exterminate the kiiroka population on Vras.
• Schall is interdicted.
