Sidur Ishki is a high-population, non-agricultural, industrial and icy world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- The surface of this world is ice-capped with nearly all of its water frozen.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Laeth Subsector of Gushemege Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It is the homeworld of the Sidurii, a sophont species and minor race.
- This world has colonies at Tromiishur and Wingate.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This system is part of the Sidurii Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld
- x3 secondary rocky worlds
- x2 planetoid belts
Mainworld Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Sidur Ishki is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Sidur Ishki has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The planet lost much of its original atmosphere relatively recently.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Sidur Ishki has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Most native life, save for food species preserved in hydroponics facilities and the like, is extinct. The biosphere was largely lost when the atmosphere decayed.
Native Sophont: Sidurii[edit]
The Sidurii are bipeds with four toes (two being much larger and opposed) and with three fingers on each hand (no opposed digit). They have large eyes but have limited color vision. Their small noses are slits over a beak-like mouth. They have no appreciable ears (having a very fine membrane over most of the ear opening) although their hearing is good. Their skin shows the remnants of many small scales which have almost been lost during their evolution. Sidurii are relatively light, mainly as a result of having hollow bones. Their limb muscles are surprisingly strong, particularly their legs, which can give a hefty kick.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Sidurii gradually moved their population of over a billion into domed cities as the world lost atmosphere, where they now live comfortably. The diversity of local laws and customs causes some inefficiency and confusion, though. Sidurii are rather communal within their cities but often untrusting of outsiders -- though certainly prepared to deal with them.
Imperial High & Landed Nobility[edit]
Sidur Ishki, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke, who also conducts affairs regarding the entire subsector at the Interstellar and Imperial level.
World Starport[edit]
Sidur Ishki has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Imperial Naval Base, hosting the headquarters of the 39th Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Sidur Ishki has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population consists mostly of Sidurii.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Native Sidurii language.
- Ushi: A language used throughout Gushemege Sector.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
Urbanization[edit]
Large, domed cities host the Sidurii population. Their society has a strong custom of privacy, and monitoring of citizens requires legal clearance.
Sidurii office design is unusual; the whole floor of an office tower is open but divided into hundreds of square areas, each having a pillar in each corner and a domed, tent-like ceiling. In some areas greater privacy is afforded by the tenting dropping down close to the floor.
World Technology Level[edit]
Sidur Ishki possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Meson Communicators and Pseudo Reality Communications.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, improved collectors, and advanced Fusion+.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Advanced gravcraft.
- Air: Advanced gravcraft and speeders.
- Space: Advanced gravcraft and G-Carriers.
- FTL: Jump Drive-6.
World Government[edit]
Sidur Ishki is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
Major areas of Sidurii life are collectivized, including education and child care. Sidurii are socially mobile, with a Sidurii's position in society depending primarily on talent, charisma, and personal achievements. Sidurii travel frequently for work and pleasure, although they maintain lifelong ties to their home arcology.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Sidur Ishki has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
World Culture[edit]
Almost all Sidurii have such busy and regimented lives that they accept visitors only at fixed times of the day, and adhere strictly to appointment lengths (even if halfway through signing a critical document, when the appointment end is signaled a Sidurii will leave the document unfinished and head for its next task). Great offense can be caused if one is late for a business or social engagement. In some cities, great chimes ring out every ten minutes, and the populace plan their day around these small time periods.
